# Delete a sample type

> Permanently deletes a sample type that is not referenced by any sample request. Returns 400 when the sample type is in use (the underlying StyleSampleRequest table holds at least one row pointing to it). Cascade-deletes the per-status notify-setting rows, the season-milestone fan-out, and any lock rows.
