PATCH is a partial update: a field touched by an operation is written, an omitted field is preserved. Sending null on a nullable scalar clears the column; sending an empty array for categories or styleColors clears all of them. When the patch touches customFields, the per-dimension rules on the customFields field apply: style-level values are full-replaced from the supplied set, while per-color values are upserted per colour (listed colours set/cleared, unlisted colours preserved).
